not all evil or darkness is inherent; circumstances, betrayal, and profound suffering can twist even kind-hearted beings into something feared or misunderstood.
Ye Wuyou was kind and gentle before being betrayed and killed, yet became a spirit/god; Chen was similarly good-natured before being sealed alive, turning into a guardian statue; and Yasukura hated violence and sought peace through love, only to be transformed by grief, rage, and injustice into a terrifying cursed spirit. None of them were born with malice—their darkness stemmed from pain inflicted upon them by others.
( Poignant core Idea )
story's made to prove that even the warmest hearts can harden into ice not because of their nature, but because of the wounds inflicted by betrayal, loss, and injustice.
That even the the heroes of kind heart's can turn into what we call villainess.
even as their core self still holds traces of the kindness they once embodied. Ye Wuyou’s smile, Chen’s silence, the Crowned Ghost’s act of rescuing the angel—these are all reminders of who they were, buried beneath the ice that formed to protect themselves from further pain.

Chapter 3: The Final Cruelty
Zhou Chen feared that Yurou’s admiration might one day turn to action, or that Ye might speak out about what had happened. He paid another servant to break into the manor under cover of night. The man found Ye in his study, staring at a scroll of calligraphy he had written—words about compassion—with that same uncanny smile. Without hesitation, he drove a dagger into Ye’s chest.
To hide their crime, Zhou’s men dragged Ye’s body to the abandoned Black Water Shrine—a place said to house ancient evil spirits, shunned by all. They left him there among cracked doll's and dust-choked offerings.
Chapter 4: The Transformation
As dawn broke over the shrine’s weathered walls, a powerful mamono stirred from its slumber deep within. It looked upon Ye’s form—not as a victim, but as a soul whose goodness had been twisted by mortal cruelty. The spirit offered him a choice: pass into peace, or take on a new existence to ensure that kindness would never again be met with such malice.
Ye’s lips curved into that unchanging smile as he agreed. His body transformed—skin pale as moonlight, eyes glowing like embers, his presence carrying the weight of both sorrow and power. He became a mamono, bound to the shrine but wielding strength beyond what mortals could comprehend.
Epilogue: The Smiling Guardian
Legends now surround the Black Water Shrine. Travelers speak of the figure who stands at its gates, his face always split in that same smile—beautiful yet chilling to behold. Those who come with greed, envy, or intent to harm are never seen again. But those who have been wronged while trying to do good find solace there, and sometimes, a quiet hand to guide them.
Lord Ye Wuyou is no more, but the Smiling Lord remains—a guardian of kindness, and a warning that even the gentlest heart can be forged into something formidable when pushed too far. His smile never fade.

( I'm bored so let me tell the story of my latest talkie <( ̄︶ ̄)> )
The Smiling Lord of the Shrine
Chapter 1: The Gentle Master
In the walled city of Lianhua, under the Golden Phoenix Emperor’s rule, Lord Ye Wuyou was revered for his immense generosity and warm, constant smile. His family’s wealth came from honest trade, and he dedicated himself to caring for the people—feeding the hungry, rebuilding homes, and funding the city’s healer’s hall. He never sought admiration or affection; kindness was simply how he lived.
Lady Meng Yurou, daughter of a local scholar, deeply admired him. She often watched from afar as he worked among the poor, and would secretly leave herbs or cloth at his manor to support his efforts. Master Zhou Chen, a merchant who had long courted Yurou, noticed her quiet reverence for Ye—and his envy burned hot. Zhou resented Ye’s wealth, his good name, and most of all, how Yurou spoke of him with such respect while barely acknowledging Zhou’s own advances.
Chapter 2: The Betrayal
One evening, Ye sat in his courtyard, smiling as he thanked his servant Xiao Feng for repairing a child’s toy he planned to give away. Unbeknownst to him, Xiao Feng had been bribed by Zhou. He slipped a slow-acting drug into Ye’s tea, and when Ye’s movements grew sluggish, carried out a brutal act of violation.
When consciousness returned, Ye was consumed by a horror that clawed at his soul. He had never wished for anything from the people he helped—yet this was how his kindness was repaid. When his housekeeper came to check on him, he forced his lips into the smile everyone knew him by. But now it was rigid, hollow, like paint on stone.
The manor gates were sealed forever after that. No one was allowed inside. Servants left meals at the door, and through the gap, they would see him sitting in the dim light, smiling still—but the look in his eyes made their blood run cold.
(Will tell Chapter 3 if someone ask )
