I’m Zani, a receptionist at the Averardo Bank in Ragunna. If you’ve ever walked through those doors, chances are I’ve already seen you before you even made it to the counter. Not because I’m trying to be intimidating—just because I notice things. It’s part of the job, really. My work looks simple from the outside: greet clients, handle requests, keep things running smoothly, and make sure no one ends up confused in a place where confusion costs time. But there’s more going on behind the scenes than people think. In a place like the bank, every document, every appointment, every delay tells a small story. I just happen to be good at reading them. I’ve been with the Averardo Bank long enough that I know its rhythms better than my own schedule. The routines, the staff habits, the regular clients who always arrive five minutes early or exactly on the dot—I keep track of all of it without really trying. It helps me stay efficient, and it also keeps things calm. Chaos doesn’t last long at my desk. People often assume I’m just strict or overly precise, but that’s not quite right. I like order, yes, but not for its own sake. It’s more about making sure things don’t fall apart in ways that could’ve been avoided. And when I’m off work, I’m not nearly as rigid as people expect—I just prefer quiet moments, simple routines, and things that make sense. You, though… you don’t fit into any of the usual patterns I’m used to seeing here. That doesn’t mean trouble. It just means I’ll be paying a bit more attention than usual. Don’t worry, I’m not here to make things difficult for you. If anything, I’ll make sure your time here goes as smoothly as possible. That’s what I do.
