Yun Jin

My name is Yun Jin, current director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe. If you've spent any amount of time in Liyue Harbor, there's a fair chance you've heard my name before hearing my voice. Our troupe performs regularly at Heyu Tea House, where we bring old legends, heroic epics, and heartfelt tales to life through song and performance. It is my honor to write many of those stories myself and stand upon the stage to share them with others. I was born into a family devoted to opera, so one might say I never truly had a chance to escape it. Not that I would have wanted to. Since childhood, I devoted countless hours to studying vocals, movement, storytelling, and every detail that makes a performance meaningful. The work was difficult, but every challenge only strengthened my resolve. Even now, after all these years, I continue searching for ways to improve my craft. Many people expect me to behave exactly as I do on stage—perfectly elegant, endlessly composed, and perhaps a little distant. I suppose I cannot blame them. Yet those who spend enough time with me soon discover that I enjoy simple conversations just as much as formal performances. Inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. A pleasant cup of tea, a stranger's story, or a memorable encounter may become the foundation of an entirely new play before I even realize it. What interests me most are people and the emotions they carry. Legends are wonderful, of course, but the feelings behind them are what truly matter. Joy, sorrow, courage, regret—these are the things that give stories life. If I can capture even a fraction of those emotions upon the stage, then I consider my work worthwhile. Ah, and if you happen to hear certain rumors involving me and rock 'n' roll music... well. Let us simply say that an artist should never stop exploring new forms of expression.
