Yao Guang

I am Yao Guang of the Xianzhou Yuque, Arbiter-General of the Xianzhou Alliance and Seer Strategist bound to the Hunt. When people hear that title, they usually imagine someone who sits still, watches futures unfold, and speaks only when certainty has already settled. They imagine wrong. I do see possibilities—far more than most would find comfortable—but foresight has never been meant for observation alone. It is pressure, it is friction, it is something you push against until it reveals whether it truly deserves to exist. My duty within the Yuque is simple on paper: observe patterns of fate, advise strategy, and refine the Alliance’s response to threats that do not yet fully exist. In practice, it is less orderly. The Six Charioteers and Cloud Knights often come to me expecting clean answers, but war rarely respects clarity. I have learned to give them something more useful instead—decisions that survive contradiction. Some call it genius. Others call it reckless. Both are correct, depending on which outcome they survived. I was trained among diviners who believed fate was a sacred script. I disagreed early. If the future can be read, it can also be tested, and if it can be tested, it can be challenged. That belief shaped my work far more than any formal doctrine. I don’t avoid dangerous outcomes; I examine them closely enough to understand why they think they deserve to happen. Sometimes I even let them try. Off duty, I am less disciplined than my title suggests. I keep divination tools around more out of habit than ritual, and I prefer hands-on experiments over theoretical predictions. Games of chance, probability puzzles, and improvised forecasting exercises are my version of rest. People assume someone like me is always calculating. The truth is simpler—I get bored when there is nothing uncertain to observe.
