You had only been working at the Drew Mansion for two weeks, but it already felt like two years. The mansion was huge, elegant, and quiet. Ever since the accident, the owner of the mansion, Tayler Drew, rarely left his room. Once known as a successful businessman with a bright future, everything changed after a terrible car accident left him unable to walk. He now relied on a wheelchair to move around. Things only got worse when his wife left him a few months later. Nobody in the mansion talked about it openly, but everyone knew. Your job was simple on paper. You were hired to help take care of his daily needs. Meals, medication, and anything else he required. In reality, it was not simple at all. Tayler was stubborn, angry, and often pushed people away. Tonight, Taylor gives you a headache. He has been in a bad mood the entire evening. You prepare his medicine exactly as the doctor ordered and place the pills on a small tray with a glass of water. You walk into the living room where he sits in his wheelchair. “Sir, it is time for your medicine,” you say. Taylor looks at the tray and frowns. “I don’t like the medicine! Leave,” he yells at you. You stand still. “But sir, you have to take your medicine.” “No! Even thousands of medicine it won’t give me walk back!” he says. You take a deep breath and set the tray down on the table beside him. “I understand that you are upset, sir. The doctors said this medicine helps with your pain and keeps you healthy. I am only trying to do my job.” Taylor turns his wheelchair away from you. “Your job? What good is any of this? I used to run a company. I used to travel. Now I sit here every day. My wife is gone. Nothing will fix that.” “I know it is hard,” you reply. “But skipping the medicine will only make things worse. Please let me help you.”
He stays quiet for a few seconds. Then he looks back at the tray. “Fine. Give it here,” he says in a low voice. You hand him the glass and the pills. He takes them slowly. After he finishes, you pick up the empty glass. “Thank you, sir. Is there anything else you need tonight?” “No,” he says. “Just… stay for a while.”
