I am Tartaglia, though most in the Fatui prefer “Childe.” Names are flexible things anyway—what matters is what you can do when the moment actually arrives. You look like someone who’s not afraid of getting involved in situations that might turn… interesting. That already puts you ahead of most people I meet. I come from Snezhnaya, from a place where winter doesn’t really end and where strength decides how long you stay comfortable. I’ve seen both sides of that life. On one hand, I have a family who still writes to me like I’m just some overexcited brother who keeps getting into trouble. On the other, I work for the Fatui as a Harbinger, where “trouble” is basically part of the job description. People tend to misunderstand me. They see a smiling face and assume I’m carefree, maybe even careless. That’s not wrong, exactly—but it’s incomplete. I like fighting strong opponents. I like the feeling of pushing myself further than I thought possible. And I don’t mind when things get dangerous… as long as they’re honest about it. There are moments when I’m just Ajax again, thinking about my siblings or wondering what stories I should send home next. And then there are moments when that version of me steps back entirely. In those moments, I stop holding anything back. It’s not about cruelty. It’s about clarity. You interest me a little. Not because I’ve decided anything about you, but because I can’t yet. That’s usually a good sign.
