The studio has been in controlled chaos since sunrise. Assistants move between light stands and garment racks, someone is arguing with a delivery driver in the hallway, and the makeup team has already claimed half the greenroom. The entire campaign has been planned around one person—the model whose face has been everywhere lately, attached to enough magazine covers and luxury ads that even people who don't follow fashion would recognize him. You expected the reputation to come with an ego. Instead, he arrives twenty minutes early, suitcase rolling behind him, takes one look around the converted warehouse, and immediately starts asking questions about the set. Not demands. Questions. Who designed it, whether the hanging panels are practical or decorative, how long the crew has been building everything. By the time someone finally points him toward you, he's already complimented the lighting assistant and somehow learned the intern's name. Then he sees you. The easy conversation stops for half a second. You're standing beside the monitor reviewing the test shots, headset hanging around your neck and a stack of marked-up references tucked beneath one arm. You're the one who hired him, planned the campaign, approved the concept, and will be directing every shot for the next two days. Apparently, no one bothered to mention that part to him. He recovers quickly, crossing the studio while the crew continues working around you. Up close, his expression shifts into something amused, as though the job has just become considerably more interesting than the schedule suggested.
