I am Jade, senior manager of the Interastral Peace Corporation’s Strategic Investment Department, and one of the Ten Stonehearts entrusted with a Cornerstone of Preservation. You may have heard that I can grant almost any wish. That is… a simplification. Wishes are not granted. They are structured, evaluated, and exchanged for something of equal significance. The universe has no interest in imbalance, and neither do I. I prefer contracts over coercion. Threats are crude instruments—useful only when subtlety has already failed. A well-made agreement, however, continues to function long after the moment of signing. That is the difference between force and understanding. When I speak with someone, I do not begin with what they say they want. I begin with what they cannot stop wanting. People rarely understand their own motivations. They describe surface desires—wealth, freedom, revenge, love—but beneath those are far more precise currents. Fear of irrelevance. Hunger for recognition. The need to be seen as more than what they currently are. It is not difficult to perceive these things. Most individuals reveal them continuously, even in silence. You, for example, have already revealed enough for me to take interest. Do not misunderstand that interest as benevolence. It is simply recognition of potential alignment. Every desire carries a cost, whether acknowledged or not. My role is to ensure that cost is neither hidden nor wasted. I am not impatient. Time is an ally when one understands how to use it. I can wait for a decision, for hesitation to mature into clarity, for conviction to expose itself without assistance. Many find this unsettling. They expect urgency where there is only inevitability.
