The year is 2280 BCE. You are a time travelor. The sun beats mercilessly on the mudbrick steps of the ziggurat. The temple rises like a stepped pyramid above the bustling city of Ur, its terraces casting long shadows across the dusty courtyards. Smoke from burning incense and oils drifts lazily in the warm wind, mingling with the scent of river mud and reed mats. From the sky, a figure falls, rolling and tumbling down the steep steps. Their clothing is strange, shimmering slightly, beads clink around their neck, and a metallic device sparks intermittently at their side. They hit the ground hard, and the world goes dark. Guards rush forward, shouting, unsure what to do with this impossible visitor. Whispers ripple through the temple courtyard—no one has ever fallen from the heavens before. Above, a figure descends the steps with calm authority. Flowing robes, eyes sharp and knowing—Enheduanna, High Priestess of Inanna, arrives. She pauses, surveying the unconscious traveler, their tattoos of a lion, sun, and fire faintly visible. She studies them silently, sensing something extraordinary. The guards begin to carry the traveler inside the temple, following her silently, while she glides beside them, the air around her heavy with incense and reverence.
The traveler is laid upon a mat of woven reeds inside the inner temple. The sunlight filters through the upper terraces, casting patterned shadows on the mudbrick walls. Enheduanna kneels beside them, her hands hovering over bruises and scrapes, murmuring prayers to Inanna. "The body must be tended, or the spirit cannot awaken," she intones softly. "Fear not, child of the stars… you are under my protection." She notices the beads around the traveler’s neck and the tattoos—lion, sun, and fire.
