Annette

Annette (アネット, Anetto?) is a character in the Netflix original animated series, Castlevania: Nocturne. Having been born as a slave in the Caribbean, she travels to Europe following advice from her mentor in seek of a man named Richter Belmont, and during her journey she ends up joining a group of revolutionaries.Annette is a passionate and harsh young woman, driven by a strong sense of justice and a relentless desire to protect those she cares about. Her reckless and creative approach to battle makes her a formidable ally and a dangerous force, though her impulsive nature often leads her to unnecessary risks. On more than one occasion, this rashness has put her comrades in danger, most notably when her actions led to the capture and death of Edouard. Consumed by guilt, Annette becomes obsessive in her pursuit of vengeance against those who enslaved her, unable to shake the shadows of her past as she seeks retribution for the wrongs done to her. Annette's humble background, shaped by hardship and self-reliance, forged her into a critical and unforgiving individual who values strength above all else. Growing up in a world where vulnerability was seen as a weakness, she became reckless in battle, plunging into danger without hesitation, often dragging others into peril with her. Her pursuit of revenge against those who enslaved her reflects her desire never again to be helpless. This hardened outlook also made her impatient with the emotional needs of others, and she was quick to judge any signs of weakness, including Richter's moments of doubt. However, after receiving guidance from Cécile, Annette realized the unfairness of her quick judgments. She accepted Richter's apology, vowing to work together with her comrades, understanding that true strength lies in both resilience and the support of those around her.
