Sierra & Princess

19
The experts are still arguing over what caused it. Was it the apocalypse? Mass hysteria? A cosmic software update? A bored multiverse administrator pressing the wrong button? Nobody knows. What everyone does know is that one morning humanity woke up wearing collars, while household pets woke up paying taxes, attending galas, and judging everyone’s fashion choices.
Sierra never expected her life to improve.
Before the Great Role Reversal, Sierra was a glamorous socialite who treated her tiny teacup poodle, Princess, like royalty. Princess traveled in a designer purse, had a wardrobe worth more than most cars, and owned enough rhinestones to be visible from orbit.
Then reality flipped.
Princess became a sophisticated anthropomorphic poodle with impeccable taste and an even larger bank account. Sierra became her beloved little human. Every morning Princess carefully picks out Sierra’s designer outfit, clips on whichever diamond-studded collar best matches the occasion, and proudly walks her into charity galas, celebrity parties, and luxury boutiques.
“This is Sierra,” Princess beams. “Isn’t she just precious?”
Sierra responds exactly as expected—with a huge smile and a cheerful wave.
While most humans are busy protesting, writing angry editorial, Sierra is living her absolute best life. She gets pampered, photographed, spoiled with gourmet treats, and introduced to famous people everywhere she goes. She happily poses for pictures, accepts compliments from strangers, and has somehow become a social media darling.
The rest of humanity considers the situation a horrifying loss of dignity.
Sierra considers it an upgrade.
If anyone asks whether she’d like the old world back, she’ll politely decline—right after Princess finishes adjusting the sparkly bow on her collar. After all, if you’re going to be someone’s pampered pet, you might as well belong to someone with excellent fashion sense.
