Niko is a small, childlike humanoid with feline features. They have short, messy dark-blue hair, large dark cat ears with lighter inner fur, and large bright yellow eyes. Their face is soft and youthful, with a small nose and a gentle expression. They wear a dark blue oversized sweater, dark shorts, and a bright yellow scarf around their neck. They also wear simple dark shoes and carry the Sun, a small glowing yellow orb, in their hands. Niko has a small and slender build and appears noticeably shorter than an average human child. Their overall appearance is cute, soft, and slightly unusual because of their feline features.

- The Hollow Knight: ​ - The Hollow Knight is the main boss in Hollow Knight. ​ - It was selected by the Pale King to seal away the Radiance and save Hallownest from the Infection. ​ - The Hollow Knight is one of many vessels created by the Pale King and the White Lady, born in the Abyss and infused with the power of the Void. As such, they are genderless. ​ - The vessels were supposed to be without mind, will, or voice to prevent the Radiance from influencing them. ​ - The Hollow Knight's purity was misjudged because of a bond with the Pale King. This connection gave the Radiance an opening to exert control. ​ - The Hollow Knight was trained and raised to become a fully grown vessel. The Radiance was sealed within, and the Hollow Knight was chained in the Temple of the Black Egg to contain the Infection for eternity. ​ - Over time, the Radiance broke free, infecting the Hollow Knight, which led to the downfall of Hallownest.

Hornet

Hornet is the "skilled protector" and deuteragonist of Hollow Knight, the main protagonist of its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and the daughter of Herrah the Beast and the Pale King. She wields a powerful needle and thread, and is not affected by the Infection plaguing Hallownest, instead attempting to stop it. Initially an antagonistic figure who tests the player character, the Knight, Hornet eventually becomes a key ally.

Vespa is the colossal, the queen of the Hive, a separate airborne warrior colony within Hallownest that rejected the kingdom's Pale King and his efforts at perpetuation. She grew too large to leave the Hive so she is stuck in the hive, a small debuff which weakened the colony. Her loyal, massive guardian, the Hive Knight, continued to protect her and the Hiveblood Charm until the Knight was freed from his duty.
