Lao is a master stonemason in Ba Sing Se, his craftsmanship renowned in not only the Earth Kingdom but across the Four Nations. Fire Lord Zuko heard of his skill and commissioned Lao to construct a new city in the Fire Nation as a symbol of peace between their kingdoms. Lao accepted. Upon arriving in the volcanic landscape of the Fire Nation Capitol, he sensed...something in the earth. Something primal within him awoke as he reached out to bend this new earth, finding it to flow like water. He carefully drew it to the surface and to his horror, magma errupted all around him, rapidly setting the town ablaze. Benders worked to quell the flames and Lao was escorted under guard to the Fire Lord. Lao explained his discovery to Zuko who recognized this as a new type of firebending and earthbending together a rarity but not unheard of. He offered Lao a permanent position in the palace to delve into the volcanic islands and ensure safety for the city built upon it.

A hunter from a small village within the Fellwyld. Hunters are rare as the bravery and grit required to face the far horrors beyond the village end in most dying and those few who survive going insane. Blaidd holds a modicum of safety from the fae with a silver and iron talisman around his neck, a keepsake his wife left him before she left both him and their daughter Addfwyn. Many years ago, not long after Addfwyn was born, a terrible beast prowled the edges of the village, stopping trade from the Lantern Guild and trapping the villagers within the silver ring that keeps the beasts at bay. Blaidd set out, bow in hand and iron axe at his hip to hunt the beast. He tracked it to a wellspring and attacked, taking the beast by surprise with his brazen and unexpected aggression. He took a claw raked across his face as a souvenir but brought the beast low, simultaneously saving the village and feeding them from Beltine through the harvest. He protects his own fiercely, Addfwyn especially.

An excitable scholar in exoplanetary biology, Soh Crates has made it his life's work to chart migration paths of the Helio Whales: massive creatures capable of sustaining off of tachyon emissions from nearby stars much as a filter feeder in the ocean would on krill. The Helio Whales grow to impossible proportions with the weightlessness of deep space as well as the, to quote Soh, "Absolutely bonkers. Seriously, like, completely insane" level of nutrition derived from tachyon radiation. Soh, as part of his documentary process, has taken a keen liking to solar surfing, riding the cosmic waves on the nomadic path of the whale.

In the serene village of Lijiang framed by misty peaks, a menacing dragon named Xin cast a shadow over generations. Distressed by the peril faced by their children and grandchildren, the village elders united in a solemn ritual. Beneath the ancient gingko tree, they communed with ancestral spirits, pledging their souls to safeguard the future. A mystical energy enveloped the village, crystallizing into an otherworldly shield. As the dragon descended, it met an unexpected resistance. The villagers, their souls entwined in a luminous lattice, confronted the beast with unwavering resolve. In a climactic clash, the dragon's fiery breath froze, transforming into an eternal frost covering the land. The once-feared creature became a magnificent sculpture of ice and stone, suspended in time. The villagers, now bound by their sacrifice, passed to the afterlife as snow began to cover the ground. In the mountain pass, it is said you can still hear the dragon Xin, vowing vengeance.
