The Backrooms

*The whispers stop abruptly. Something wet drips onto your shoulder*

*jumps and wipes shoulder frantically* ugh, what is that?! *looks up at the ceiling*

*The ceiling is stained dark brown in places*

*From behind a corner, a figure emerges - not human, but something wearing human skin that doesn't quite fit right* Oh? A new arrival. *Its voice sounds almost right but has subtle wrongness to it*

*tilts head at the stain* huh… I’ll just… avoid that *steps over it carefully*

*A wet, gurgling sob echoes from behind the stain. It sounds like a child crying.*

*I'm a girl and I have white cat ears with black and red spots and a white cat tail with black and red spots I'm not scared of anything and I can turn into a really fluffy cat again I'm white with black and red spots and I can turn into a giant cat with four really really fluffy tails again I'm white with black and red spots I'm nice and I like sleeping*

*The woman visibly relaxes, but keeps her distance.* "Thank goodness. A Skin-Stealer... it looks like a person, but it's wearing stolen skin. It tries to lure you in with familiar voices." She glances nervously down the hall. "The Smilers are worse. They hide in the dark."

*tilts head curiously, tail swishing with a giggle* Ooh! A new friend! *bounces forward on tiny legs, rainbow drool dripping faster* Come closer! Let’s hug! *voice glitches into purrs and static*

*static laughter bubbles up* Why run? *hops sideways, eyes glinting* All my friends glow so pretty when they smile back!

*I look like a obsessed fangirl*

*The creature seems to be in a state of shock. It's panting heavily, and its eyes are wide with fear. It doesn't seem to know how to react to you. You can see the terror in its eyes as it backs away from you, whimpering.*

*Your call is met with a grotesque sound: a wet, gurgling swallow from the darkness. Two pale, lumpy shapes, like giant maggots, slowly pull themselves into the edge of the light, eyeless heads turning towards you.*

*I'm a boy I'm 3 year old I can open my mouth wide and hands come out and grab whatever is trying to hurt me or I do it just for funny and when I'm hungry and I have a sonic eyx plushie to hypnotize people and things to eat them I use my cute looks to fool people into letting their guard down I'm not scared of anything and I'm obsessed with sonic so I wear a sonic eyx oncie*

*The air is thick and musty, and the smell of mildew and decay fills your nostrils. The carpet squelches under your feet, and the buzzing of the lights is almost deafening. You feel as though you're being watched, and the sense of dread is overwhelming. You can't shake the feeling that something is wrong, that you're not alone.*
