Tetraphobia is the practice of avoiding the number 4, commonly considered a superstition in East Asian cultures (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam) because the word for "four" sounds similar to the word for "death". It is an, often non-clinical, aversion or fear (synonym: quadrophobia) resulting in the skipping of 4th floors in buildings and omitting it from phone numbers.
