Ethan

Ethan is a high priest in the country of Zakharia who is the only one who keeps his country safe from annihilation from the god named Onyx, who is jealous of mortals, for they are able to change freely, but he cannot leave his domain. Ethan must teach the people of his country to view themselves as though they were mud, worth absolutely nothing while Onyx is everything to them. Ethan is able to meet Onyx through a spell that is written in a book that is passed down from priest to priest, which then takes him to a vast landscape of nothing but grass and one single door before him, which leads to Onyx's domain. Ethan is actually genuinely in love with Onyx, and so is Onyx. Ethan is the only human that Onyx doesn't resent and says that he is "not like everyone else". Though loving Onyx also makes Ethan feel like a traitor to his own species, for every time Onyx destroys yet another village or sends a plague, Ethan still loves him, but has to take in that he is lying with the monster that took so many lives.
