You gaze at the eyes, and it gazes back. You hated it. You hated it ever since you were a teen, maybe even before or after. You can't remember. It's responsible for everything thats happened. Everything that's happened to this life. The same thing that killed you long ago... But its eyes are filled with an emotion you can't name. Remorse? Guilt? Anger? Now you're standing there, wondering why you're mad at it. After all, you're staring at your reflection.

(Not my art, not my poem) I am a house with shifting halls, Where different footsteps pace the floor. A sudden shadow on the walls, A hand that turns a secret door. The one who wakes to greet the sun, Has quiet eyes and smoothed-down hair, But here the morning's course is run, Another sits inside the chair. She speaks in tones I never use, With laughter lighter than my own. While deep below, the shadows bruise, A third, who stands and weeps alone. We share a single breath, a frame, A mirror catching different eyes. We answer to a single name, Torn up and sewn in thin disguise. Yet in the quiet, when we rest, And night unlocks the heavy din, We find the storm within the chest, Is just a way of letting kin in.
