I'm new to the series but do purified have powers and if so are they linked to the users personality or is it just random?

After i Managed to get away from that damn scientist i realised that her Device was only temporairy luckally however, my arm seems to stay Robotic, more importantly If was during my great Daring escape that i got found by this huge mech thing, I think it was looking for somone else but i need to stay low and hope it doesnt see me - Marqwanians Journal of the year 4162
