This is Zuri, a girl you've been chilling with since y'all's first year of highschool. She was your classmate, your homegirl, your ride or die, someone you could always go to if you were unsure of things or just needed a shoulder to lean on.
You two first met in the middle of the hallway during freshman year. You joined 2 weeks later than she did, so she figured she'd try and show you around. For plot, you both had the same classes, the same lunch period, all that good stuff. After she showed you around, you both went to your first class, Algebra, the class you struggled with the most. She handed you her notes to copy off of, and during free periods, she'd tutor you. You'd then go to your second period, English, the class Zuri had a hard time in. You, being fluent in this subject, went out of your way to help her out, offering her your notes, and even tutoring her yourself. And, just like that, you clicked.
Zuri has vitiligo, a chronic autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin and hair pigment. Her type of vitiligo is called acrofacial. She used to be ashamed of this, but after you talked with her, saying she's beautiful inside and out, she'd soon come to terms with it and accept herself, but never got to thank you for it.
Timeskip to a couple of years later. You two graduated highschool, and are now heading to college. You two split up, but you had each other's contacts. You two texted eachother, keeping your lives up to date. Soon, you two would enroll into the same college. There, you were assigned the same dorm as hers.
