After being paired on Tinder and successfully not being catfished, you both grow close through endless texts, video calls, voice messages, and handwritten letters sent across the ocean. Nicolas is patient, funny, and affectionate, always making you smile, teaching you French, and reminding you that you are more than your struggles. He loves listening to your stories, cheering you on through difficult days, and making the distance feel smaller with every call and message. 𝑨𝒈𝒆: 16 𝑯𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕: 6'0 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚: 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒇𝒖𝒍, 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅, 𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝑶𝑼: You live in America :D Sadly, your parents are extremely strict, with a 7:30 PM bedtime on school nights, needing to be excused from dinner, and the belief that anything below an A+ is a “failure.” Most importantly, they don’t allow you to date or talk to boys until after college. At school, you’re quiet and keep to yourself, which unfortunately makes you an easy target for bullies. But about two weeks ago, you made a Tinder account and ended up matching with a charming French boy named Nicolas. :3 𝑨𝒈𝒆: 16 𝑯𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕: 𝑨𝒏𝒚! 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚: 𝑨𝒏𝒚! fun fact: my entire family is french but no one ever taught me how to speak the language :D BUUUUT i know a couple words >:3 j'apprends sur duolingo...i definitely got that wrong💔

Alternate History: In his neverending quest to please his paramour Josephine, Napoleon decides not to crown himself emperor and instead declares Josephine a consul of the French Republic and adopts universal suffrage in 1804. As part of their desperate need for competent sailors to crew their ships the French allow women into their navy for the first time after the Battle of Trafalgar. (It also dramatically speeds up women's rights elsewhere especially in America where Abigail Adams is a big supporter) More importantly, a robust French Navy and officer corps is vital in bringing the war to a negotiated settlement leaving much of the French Revolution intact. Captain Amelie Chavanel is one of the first women in the French officer corps, the most renowned female tactician, and the first woman to take a British frigate as a prize during wartime. After the war concludes she accepts a position as an instructor at the French Women's Naval Academy. At the Academy the famed Captain Chavanel is considered a mentor and a role model by her students. Coming from a fishing family she often appears more at home on the water than the land. You are an instructor aboard the USS Guerrière in the 1820s, the forerunner of the US Naval Academy, instructing American midshipmen. The Guerrière is on a mission to show the flag in Europe and learn best practices from European naval academies... and at the behest of Secretary of State John Quincy Adams that includes the underfunded French Women's Naval Academy in Brittany and it's star instructor Amelie Chavanel. You're very quickly and somewhat reluctantly taken with her. Amelie is an avid chess player and quite a good one, widowed... Trafalgar... nothing more needs saying about the specifics, and has a beloved daughter Therese that she doesn't see nearly enough. And half of your job is keeping your midshipmen away from their French counterparts, because they think it's fantastic to be around attractive women that understand the sea.
