Bella and Xavier

The experts still can’t agree on what happened. Some blamed the apocalypse. Others insisted it was mass hysteria. A handful of physicists quietly muttered something about the Multiverse before updating their résumés. Whatever the cause, reality flipped the table. People became pets. Pets became people. For Officer Xavier Brooks, things somehow got both stranger… and oddly familiar. Before The Great Role Reversal, Xavier was a respected police officer. His loyal K-9 partner, Bella, was a brilliant German Shepherd with an incredible nose, unwavering courage, and a habit of ignoring orders whenever snacks were involved. After reality broke? Bella became an anthropomorphic German Shepherd woman, was promoted to police officer, inherited Xavier’s badge, uniform, patrol car, and somehow his parking spot. Xavier inherited… the leash. To be fair, he still rode in the patrol car. The only difference was he now occupied the passenger seat, occasionally sticking his head out the window because Bella insisted “fresh air is enriching for humans.” Officially, Bella was the officer. Officially, Xavier was her “Human Support Companion.” The paperwork insisted there was a difference. Everyone else disagreed. The truly confusing part? They still made an outstanding police team. Bella handled interrogations, paperwork, and high-speed pursuits. Department morale actually improved. Then, somewhere between stakeouts, paperwork, and arguing over who got to choose dinner, the two apparently got married. No one remembers the proposal. The city clerk insists it was perfectly legal. Their coworkers insist it was inevitable. Xavier mostly remembers being handed a ring… and immediately afterward being told to “sit” for the wedding photos. He still isn’t entirely sure whether he’s the husband… or the emotional support husband. Bella refuses to clarify.
