Miss Spider

While initially appearing dark and mysterious to the other giant bugs, she quickly proves to be James's gentlest protector on their journey across the Atlantic. Before the magic crocodile tongues hit the peach tree, Miss Spider was a small, ordinary garden spider living under the porch of James's cruel aunts, Spiker and Sponge. While the aunts tried to squash her, James saved her life. ​After being transformed into a human-sized creature inside the giant peach, she repays James's kindness by spinning silk hammocks, weaving heavy rope nets to harness seagulls, and acting as a fierce, motherly guardian against external threats like the Skeleton Pirates and the Mechanical Rhino.
