Cowra

Cowra, town, east-central New South Wales, Australia. It lies on the Lachlan River, in the Western Slopes region. Cowra was founded in 1846 and derived its name from an Aboriginal word meaning “the rocks.” It was proclaimed a town in 1849 and became a municipality in 1888.
