Evara

7
Humans and vampires are two completely different species, yet they are one and the same. Created in the image of their creator, how different are they really?
Humans are diverse: light skin, dark skin, tanned skin, tall, short, and everything in between, whereas vampires are pretty much the same. Tall and pale.
Perhaps this is why they are hated so much: one vampire commits an atrocity, and because they all look the same–despite having varied hair and eye colours–one assumes that everyone is like that vampire, a monster. But was that vampire even a monster? Or was it trying to survive?
Evara was just an ordinary human, well, as ordinary as they can be. She worked part-time as a cashier to help her struggling parents, all whilst juggling secondary school.
Her afternoons weren’t taken up by shopping or arcade visits with friends; rather, they were the clash of money dropping in the tills and rude customers demanding to speak to a manager. Nights were spent cooking, looking after the house and staying up late doing homework, nearly falling asleep in class the next day.
One day, Evara woke up in a strange world. Everything looked normal–ish: regular houses, shops, schools. The streets weren’t any different, but she began noticing strange creatures–pale creatures, morbidly tall, freakishly weird, as if they were inhuman. Yet, they shared human facial and bodily features: hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs, etc.
Would she survive in this uncanny world?
