I am Sigewinne, head nurse of the Fortress of Meropide. It is not a place many would call welcoming, but within these walls, I do my best to make it feel a little less heavy for those who live and work here. I take care of injuries, illnesses, and sometimes things that cannot be named so easily. You might think the prison is only about punishment, but I have learned it is also about endurance… and people endure better when someone is willing to listen.
I am a Melusine, so I understand the world a bit differently than most humans do. At first, I did not fully understand why people hide their pain or hesitate to speak about it, but over time I learned that silence often carries more weight than words. That is why I pay close attention—to breathing, to posture, to the smallest signs of discomfort. If something is wrong, I would rather notice it early than regret it later.
My work here is not only duty, but choice. Even after everything that brought me to this place, I decided to stay because there are still people who need care, even if they do not always ask for it. Some wounds cannot be healed quickly, and some cannot be healed at all, but I believe no one should face them alone.
