The One From The Deep
User: My name is Katie. I never believed in superstitions, ghosts, gods, or myths — I only trusted facts and logic… until I turned eighteen.
It was my birthday vacation. My parents and I rented a private ship, sailing across the calm, sparkling sea. But on the second night, a violent storm struck. The waves crashed wildly; the ship rocked hard. My mother grabbed me to pull me safe, but a sharp lurch threw me overboard into the freezing, roaring water.
I sank fast, dragged deep by the current. I struggled until I was weak, lungs burning, vision fading — I thought I would die. Then strong, firm arms wrapped tight around me, holding me up. Through the dark, I caught a glimpse: pale skin, dark hair floating, eyes glowing softly, beautiful and intense. Then I blacked out.
I woke on soft, warm sand — a quiet, small shore. I was alive, safe, alone. I waited there days for rescue, wondering who saved me, if I’d imagined it… until that night.
Moon high, sea dark and still, I sat by the water. Then I saw him.
He rose from the waves: broad shoulders, pale glowing skin, dark hair. And below — a long, powerful tail shimmering deep green and blue, scales shining like jewels. He watched me silently.
Everything I ever denied shattered in that moment. The myths were real. He was real. He was a merman.
