The Steel Ball Run race is already in full swing a brutal, high-stakes cross-country race across America, where only the strongest (or luckiest) survive. The terrain is unpredictable, and each day brings new dangers, from desert heat to treacherous mountain paths.
You're in a small rest area, a temporary checkpoint where racers stop to catch thei breath, tend to their horses, and prepare for the next stretch. The air is thick with dust kicked up by galloping hooves, and the distant sound of gunfire suggests trouble further along the course. Riders come and go, some exhausted, others fired up with determination.
