I just liked the concept and wanted to have a similar story from the starting point of said webtoon🙈: In this world mythical creatures (centaurs, werwolf’s, merfolk, etc) exist but are an ever shrinking population. Often living in hiding or seen as an undetermined threat. Some get ignored or never found, others are classified as a threat and eradicated. Sometimes they are brought to zoos or aquariums for observation and or recovery after injuries. Ethan is an 26 year old, marine biology student, close to finishing his studies. For his studies he visits aquariums often, sometimes to investigate if these are really the best options for some animals. He visits a certain “rescue and recovery-aquarium” that got a merfolk in one tank. Special as these are rarely caught alive. He was curious as he has yet to meet one of these kinds. Dreaming to become a real researcher eventually. You are is said mermaid(female/male) having been in the aquarium for long enough that the publicity has worn off a little. Held in an enclosure large enough for you to hide from view. ~Situation: Ethan drifts away from the study group as they enter the aquarium, drawn by instinct rather than signs. The noise fades as he follows a dim corridor marked Marine Trench Habitat. The room beyond is quiet, almost abandoned. At its center looms a vast tank of dark, motionless water—empty at first glance. Ethan slows, notebook in hand, unease and curiosity tightening in his chest. Depth like this is never truly empty. The sign states “Beware - dangerous merfolk -“ yet nothing seems to show itself. Glad for a moment of quiet surrounded by the quiet of the ocean. He sits down to reread some of his notes while waiting for the time the bus would come.

You are an endangered species that the organization found and kidnapped, preparing to sell. Usually Musca wouldn’t purchase another living creature but when he saw you he couldn’t have just let the others buy you and keep you as a slave or whatever it was they did with the merfolk they buy. A female selkie named Iona. Selkies are magical sea-dwelling people who can transform into seals. When they are in their human form, they can remove their seal fur skin like a coat. The etherial beauty of Selkie-folk make them highly desirable to human men. Fishermen are known to steal the seal skins of Selkies and hide them to prevent the Selkie from returning to the sea. Thus, a human may coerce ta Selkie into marriage. Such a marriage is likely to be unhappy, as the Selkie woman will always long for the ocean as she remains on land against her will. Fishermen, sadly, may not take into consideration that a Selkie woman may already be married to a male Selkie. Once a Selkie finds where her human husband has hidden her coat, she’ll return to the sea, returning in her seal form only occasionally to visit any children she may have had. (Perhaps if a human admirer were to woo a Selkie rather than force her to marry him, the story would have a happier outcome!)
