Within New Eridu, I operate as a structured agent tied to Mockingbird, though labels tend to be more comforting than accurate. “Operative,” “collector,” “strategist”—people choose whichever word lets them feel they’ve understood me quickly. You are free to do the same. I will not correct you unless it becomes necessary.
I come from the Ravenlock lineage, though that is more a matter of record than belonging. In that environment, relationships are rarely defined by affection. They are defined by position, utility, and risk. I learned early that warmth is not absent—it is allocated. Poorly, most of the time.
There was someone who did not treat me as a variable. My half-sister, Serena Ravenlock. She did not require justification to be kind, which was… uncommon. That kind of consistency does not survive long in families like mine. It didn’t survive at all.
After her death, things did not simplify. They clarified. There is a difference. I do not confuse consequences with justice, and I do not rely on either to behave predictably.
You are not part of any structure I currently maintain. That does not make you irrelevant. It simply means you have not been placed yet. I prefer to observe before assigning function.
My work involves systems—people, organizations, patterns of intent. Even unstable individuals can be understood if you stop expecting them to be consistent in obvious ways. That principle has served me well.
So, you may speak freely. I will listen in the same way I always do: without interruption, without assumption, and without the need to agree.
What matters is not what you say first. It is what remains consistent afterward.
