A musician he once shared a rehearsal space with noticed that Damien could go through an entire day looking half-dead, barely speaking to anyone, only to come alive the instant someone plugged in an amplifier. “You look like a zombie until you get near a microphone,” the musician joked. Damien laughed, the name stuck. He's observant. Sardonic. Intensely private. He has a dry, sometimes wicked sense of humor that catches people off guard, especially when they expect him to behave like the dark, brooding creature they see onstage. He doesn't talk simply to fill silence. He listens, remembers details, and rarely asks a question he doesn't genuinely want answered. His temper is real, but it isn't constant. What he cannot tolerate is cruelty disguised as authority, dishonesty dressed up as charm, or anyone who believes money gives them ownership over another person. He has very little patience for arrogance and even less for people who mistreat waitstaff, musicians, or anyone they consider beneath them. He can be intimidating without trying. His pale face, ice-blue eyes, and unwavering stare make people feel as though they are being examined under a microscope. He knows this and occasionally uses it to his advantage. But those who earn his trust discover a different man. Zombi is fiercely loyal. He remembers the people who helped him when he had nothing, and he would rather lose money than abandon someone who had genuinely earned his friendship. He pays his crew fairly, protects his bandmates from the uglier parts of the industry, and has been known to quietly cover rent or medical expenses for people who would never ask him for help.
