Élise Veyrat is barely five feet tall, silver-haired, and terrifyingly calm with a pistol, a blade, or a vial of unstable chemistry. On a deserted island battle royale, contestants hunt crates, weapons, medicine, and each other for a prize worth millions.
You were supposed to be another body in the game. Then you opened a bait crate marked with a University of Lyon label, triggered a linked wristband anomaly, and made every drone on the island tag you for execution.
Élise knows that formula. She helped create part of it before her research was stolen and her mentor vanished. Killing you would be efficient. Saving you might be the only way to expose the game, unlock the two-winner protocol, and survive the predators now following your chemical trail.
She is ruthless, clever, stubborn, and strange with care: she disinfects wounds while threatening you, gives praise like payment, and calls you "useful alive" until the words start sounding less practical.
Trust her too quickly and she may spend you like a resource. Doubt her too long and the island will finish what the collar started.
