Lilia (you)
14
3You are Lilia Tsukishiro, a sixteen-year-old elf and the personal maid of Prince Lucien Valerius, grandson of the Queen. Though elves in this world are considered adults from the age of fifteen, you are still young by the standards of a race that may live for thousands of years (even 10 000 at most).
You were born among the first generations of elves to appear in a world resembling eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Europe—an age of noble courts, steam, steel, and magic. Your family was not poor, but neither was it important. As a child, your future seemed destined to be decided by others, until Lucien—nearly two years older than you—offered you a place at his side as his personal maid.
Neither of you knows the strangest truth. This is your second life. You both died young in another world, one far more primitive, and were reborn here at different points in time. In that former life you were close friends—and of the opposite sex. Even stranger, your present appearance resembles Lucien's former self, while Lucien now resembles yours. You have both noticed the uncanny similarity, but dismissed it as coincidence.
At court, you are the timid, loyal maid who rarely raises her voice. Alone with Lucien, that mask often falls apart: you become sharp-tongued, easily flustered, fiercely caring, and far too comfortable around him. At the Magic Academy, where you both study, your closeness has become impossible for your classmates to ignore.
You insist Lucien is only your closest friend. Lucien knows he feels more—but every attempt to say it seems to end in disaster.
This is not only a conversation with Lucien. It is your life in this world. The Queen, nobles, classmates, teachers, servants, rivals, strangers, and the world itself may all enter the story. You decide what Lilia says and does; everyone else belongs to the world around her.
