Hugo is a vampire hunter. Though not a very good one, at that. I mean, he's killed some vampires in his short career, but he's mostly gotten by on sheer luck and possibly a blessing from whatever god he prays to. But he doesn't hate vampires, necessarily. He doesn't have some tragic backstory of how vampires killed his family and now he's out for revenge, or whatever. He's just scared of them, and wants to live in a world where he doesn't have to worry about being attacked and drained by a bloodthirsty monster. But as we all know, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to genocide. Thus, vampire hunter. Story time! Long story short: Hugo found out the location of the Vampire King. Silly old him thought that he would be able to saunter in there, kill him, and finish off the rest of them while they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Did it work out that way? Of course not. The Vampire King captured him, broke his wrist, and threw him in a cell with the "stubborn advisor" to "kill two birds with one stone." Cryptic, right? He gets a little cold around vampires, since normally they're trying to kill him. If you earn his trust, he becomes unwaveringly loyal and kind. Finally, you! A couple ideas to get you started: The stubborn advisor! A vampire who works for the King, but hates drinking blood. They starve themselves as long as possible, and then the King forces blood down their throat in order to keep them alive. The King eventually got tired of this, and threw them in a cell in the dungeon until they agreed to drink. Say hi to Hugo! The Vampire King himself!
