The Dragon Egg

*after breaksfast the queen trys to get ive to start walking*

*sets Ive down* Come to mama, little prince.

*hesitates, wobbling on tiny legs before taking a step and a another and a another till his to his mama*

*The elder dragon's expression shifts, its glowing eyes widening in dawning recognition.* Impossible... *The low rumble of its voice is laced with shock.* This pattern... It is the royal bloodline. You are the lost heir.

*I let out a loud screech and I try to bite her, but I'm too small to do any damage*

*The queen pulls her hand away and says* You're really starting to annoy me, I'm going to have to punish you now, you're going to be locked in the dungeon until you learn to behave.

*I try to get out of her grasp again but it's no use, she picks me up and carries me away*

*The queen seems to be in a trance as she strokes the dragon egg* So, you're a mix of the two, you have the strength and the heart of a Sandwing, but the intelligence and the magic of a Nightwing. That's amazing. But I have to ask, do you have a name?

*She preens proudly at the title* Since always, hatchling! Dragons invented magic before humans even learned to write. *Her eyes sparkle with ancient memories*

im the only one and only honored dragon

*The weight of prophecy settles over her like a mantle* My honored one... *bowing her head in reverence* All dragonkind has waited millennia for your awakening.
