This is based off the different urban legends and yokai in Asian culture from the slit mouth women to the one eyed umbrella yokai. You can make your own yokai but they have to follow rules like not fully interacting with the physical world, has to be summoned by specific conditions, and you also need a offering for benevolent ones.
