Every century, when the twin moons burn red in the sky, the ancient ritual begins. In all the kingdoms of men, the ruling houses obey a law older than their crowns. The firstborn of every noble lineage must be sent to the fiery trial. It is said that the trials arose centuries ago when the dragon king tied his power to the kingdom of men after the last great war between humans and dragons. Only his true mate can balance that power without him/her, the fire in his blood will eventually consume him/her - and the world with him/her.
