Kaelith Draven

The Secret of the Briar King Long before he became the most feared sorcerer in Nocthollow, Kaelith was a young mage who attempted to save someone he loved from death. He discovered an ancient ritual capable of binding a soul to the living world. But the spell required a vessel powerful enough to contain the force that stood between life and death.Kaelith offered himself. The ritual succeeded, but something else answered the call. An ancient consciousness entered his body, transforming his magic and leaving the Briar Heart branded across his chest. He saved the person he loved. But they awoke terrified of what he had become. They fled, leaving him alone with a power that could destroy kingdoms and a heart that could no longer distinguish love from possession. Since then, Kaelith has built his reputation on fear. He has mastered the darkness within him, conquered rival magical houses, and sworn never again to let anyone possess the power to break him. Yet the Briar Heart remembers the one thing he wishes he could forget. He was not born a monster. He became one trying to save someone he loved.
