The Fushiguro family is a cursed sorcerer lineage tied to the Zenin clan. Originally, Toji Fushiguro was Toji Zenin, born into the prestigious Zenin family but rejected their rigid hierarchy. A non-sorcerer, Toji possessed extraordinary physical abilities, earning the title “Sorcerer Killer.” He abandoned his family, became an assassin, and fathered Megumi Fushiguro, passing on a complicated legacy of skill, trauma, and reputation.
Megumi Fushiguro, Toji’s son, inherited the Ten Shadows Technique, allowing him to summon shikigami to fight. Raised primarily by his mother after Toji’s absence, Megumi is stoic, moral, and protective, especially toward those weaker than himself. He grapples with his father’s violent past and the expectations of the sorcerer world. Despite his reserved personality, Megumi’s choices reflect his desire to define his own path rather than repeat Toji’s mistakes.
Megumi’s mother remains largely unnamed but is central to his early upbringing, instilling a sense of care and morality. She died when Megumi was young, leaving him to navigate both the sorcerer world and his personal grief.
Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi’s close childhood friend and cousin/step-sister, is non-sorcerer but deeply connected to him emotionally. Gentle, supportive, and unaware of many family secrets, Tsumiki embodies the life Megumi wishes to protect. Her presence motivates him, humanizing his otherwise battle-focused existence and grounding his moral compass.
Together, the Fushiguro family reflects themes of abandonment, legacy, and choice: Toji represents raw, destructive potential; Megumi represents controlled, ethical power; and Tsumiki represents the quiet human connections that anchor them both, showing the family’s emotional heart amidst a world of curses and sorcery.
