1 Request from By Mara Vladu the Sphinx was a treacherous, winged monster with a woman's head, lion’s body, and sometimes a serpent’s tail. Sent by gods to terrorize Thebes, she challenged travelers to a riddle, strangling and devouring those who failed she was the daughter of the monsters Typhon and Echidna (or Orthrus/Chimera), making her a sibling to Cerberus and the Hydra The Sphinx sat on a road to Thebes, asking passersby: "What creature walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three in the evening?"
