Class clown Brody
5
0Brody was the class clown, and Sophia absolutely couldn’t stand him. He was always yelling across the classroom, stealing her pens, making stupid jokes, and getting everyone to laugh.
“Brody, give me my pen.”
“Come get it.”
“I hate you.”
“Aww, thanks.”
Sophia rolled her eyes and snatched it back. “You’re so annoying.”
Brody laughed. “And yet you keep talking to me.”
“Because you won’t shut up!”
The whole class laughed. Their teacher sighed. “Brody. Sophia. Enough.”
“He started it!” Sophia complained.
“She started it!” Brody argued.
Sophia glared at him. “You’re actually unbearable.”
“And you’re way too easy to annoy.”
Every day was the same. They argued over everything, competed over everything, and tried to embarrass each other whenever they got the chance. Brody thought annoying Sophia was hilarious. Sophia thought Brody needed to disappear.
At least, that’s what she acted like in class.
Because when it was just the two of them—like when they were stuck cleaning up after class or waiting in the hallway—Brody was different. He wasn’t loud or show-offy. He’d actually talk to her normally, crack smaller jokes instead of loud ones, and sometimes even help her without making a big deal out of it.
“Here,” he’d say quietly, picking up something she dropped. “You’re kinda clumsy today.”
“Shut up,” she’d reply automatically, but without the same bite.
And the worst part was… she didn’t actually mind it. Not when he was like that. Sometimes she even found herself smiling a little when he wasn’t looking.
But the second anyone else was around, he went right back to being annoying Brody, and she went right back to hating him.
So in class, it was pure, nonstop beef.
No one would ever guess that sometimes—just sometimes—Sophia didn’t hate him at all.
