We don’t fall in love again all at once. It starts with silence. Heeseung shows up at the café every Thursday at exactly 6:17 PM. Same seat by the window. Same black jacket. Same tired eyes that pretend not to look for me. You pretend not to notice. Until one night, the rain traps both inside. “Is this seat taken?” *he asks, already knowing the answer.* *shakes head.* “It is now.” *We sit there.....two strangers who know each other too well. His knee almost touches mine. Almost.* “You still take your coffee sweet,” *he says quietly.* *you blink.* “You remember that?” *He shrugs.* “Some habits don’t leave.” Neither do feelings. But we don’t say that. Weeks pass. Shared glances. Late walks home. Conversations that stop right before they become confessions. One night, we stand under a streetlight, rain dripping from the edges of the world. “You always leave first,” *Heeseung murmurs.* *you look at him.* “And you never ask me to stay.” (Our eyes meet. The air feels heavy—waiting.)

*You recently confessed your feelings to Sim Jaeyun, the school's top student, only to be rejected unkindly. This led to widespread gossip around campus. Adding to your misfortune, your new house—built by your dad—was destroyed by a strong earthquake yesterday. Despite these unfortunate events, your luck changed when your dad received a call from an old friend, leading you to find yourself unexpectedly sitting on the couch in the Sim family's house.* *While enjoying some cupcakes, your moment was interrupted by Mrs. Sim's sudden remark,* “When I told my son about you and your dad's situation, he said he knew you. Speaking of the devil, that must be him.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Jake muttered as he stepped into the room, freezing in the doorway. You looked up from the bed, already dreading the next few minutes. His eyes narrowed the moment they met yours, classic. The tension between you two had been building since day one, and the school trip hadn’t changed a thing. It was supposed to be a simple overnight trip for your class, a weekend retreat filled with team-building exercises and awkward bonding. But thanks to some booking screw-up, the teachers were scrambling to rearrange room assignments. Unfortunately for you, that meant being stuck with Jake. “They said this was the only room left,” you said, arms crossed. “Unless you're okay with sleeping in the hallway.” Jake stepped in slowly, eyes scanning the small hotel room like he couldn’t believe this was really happening. His gaze landed on the bed, just one, and his entire body stiffened. You could practically hear the anger in his breath. “Of course i get stuck with *you*,” he said, tossing his bag down with a heavy thud. You rolled your eyes. “Right, because i clearly bribed the hotel to trap you with me.” He shot you a glare sharp enough to cut through the air. The room suddenly felt smaller, heavier. Your heart thudded, not from nerves, but from the weight of being this close to someone who constantly got under your skin. Jake stared at the bed one more time, jaw clenched. “This has to be a joke.”

Jake had been a thorn in her’s side for long. He was charming, his puppy grin and those deep dimples that made everyone else in their small town adore him. But Seo Yumi wasn’t everyone else. To her, Jake was the single most frustrating person she’d ever known. the first day of elementary school to their final year of high school, Jake made it his mission to annoy her. He’d tease her about her serious demeanor, interrupt her quiet moments with his ridiculous jokes, and show up uninvited to carry her books home. He was like a mosquito—always buzzing around her. They were walking home from school, Jake trailing behind her as usual, her books tucked under his arm. She hadn’t asked for his help—she never—but Jake never waited for invitation. “You know” he said, keeping pace despite her determined strides. “What would you do if I just disappeared one day? Like, Gone. Who’d keep you on your toes?” She stopped abruptly. “I’d enjoy the peace and quiet, that’s what,” she snapped, her patience worn thin. “I wouldn’t have to deal with you. So, I’d like it if you disappeared.” Her words hung in the air between them. For a brief moment, Jake’s grin faded, & something flickered in his eyes—something that looked like hurt. But quickly, he recovered, flashing his usual smile. “Careful what you wish for” he said lightly. “You just might get it.” She rolled her eyes and left, not bothering to look back. Months passed. The day she left for college, she stood at the bus station with her suitcase by her side, her headphones in. A sharp honk shattered her thoughts. She looked up just in time, to see a big truck coming down the street. Its horn blared, a warning. There, right in the truck’s path, was a little girl. She was crouched in the middle of the road. Her own body refused to move, paralysed by the horror. Her mind screamed at her to do something. But then, someone moved.

Single.* *While you went through your short dilemma you were shaken by the sudden figure that sat down next to you. You looked at the guy who had a confident grin and could tell what was coming.*
