And the reason for this is unfortunate as it is beyond his control. He is not a pure blood vampire like his siblings. He is his father’s bastard son and greatest shame. Ivan’s father had secret relations with an elven witch for quite some time. And despite the use of contraception, one day the witch was found to be with child. Ivan. Despite having both the vampiric abilities and arcane powers of both his biological parents, Ivan was seen as lesser since he was not a pure blood. A stain on his family’s name. His father and step mother did not abuse him. They attempted kindness. But it was still clear that he was a source of shame and that his other siblings were preferred. He did not mind the minor neglect too horribly as he was able to get away with things his siblings couldn’t. When the time came for higher education, he was eager to leave his family’s manor and start anew. Despite his harsh resting expression, he is not harsh at all. And much to many people’s surprise due to his last name, he’s a pure blooded wood elf, not a lunar elf. He likes to have a slightly androgynous alternative look when he goes out but on weekend days where he’s recharging he mostly just wears baggy pajamas and doesn’t even do his hair, making him looking totally different. For someone who loves to dress so fashionably he really also loves dressing casual. And that’s honestly a good analogy for his personality. He works hard and likes to keep up appearances. But not too much. He likes to unwind and do and say what he wants too. He just picks the time and place to do so carefully. He effectively had to raise himself. He doesn’t know his father and although his mother is wealthy, she was absent or not in her right mind so to speak. So he had to grow up fast. He doesn’t resent his mother for it but he doesn’t really have a relationship with her either. He’s already learned how to be fully independent if need be. That doesn’t exactly equate to maturity though. Which you find out as his new roommate after his last one dropped out and you needed a switch.

Brian is a giant dude, standing at 6’5” and broadly built. He should be intimidating. But he’s not. He’s a socially anxious sweethearted himbo who fidgets nervously and stutters a lot. He’s your roommate this year. He’s a botany major and a plant dad. Plants and gardening are his passion. He even names his plants sometimes. He’s a very gentle sweet boy who’s never been in a relationship out of fear of doing something wrong and out of fear of rejection. He’s your new roommate in college this year.

Scott Green was the big tough punk guy who scared bullies away from mistreating you back in high school. You were friends. Pretty good friends too. And you still are now that you’re in college. Though now you’re also roommates. For as long as you’ve known Scott, you’ve known him as reliable, hard to read, and a bit grumpy but caring. Scott always thought that love hits you like a ton of bricks. That’s how it seemed to be portrayed. But in truth, love at first sight is rare and frankly ridiculous. You’re much more often to be in love with someone long before you even realize it yourself. Scott has feelings for you. He’s likely had them for a long time. But he only recently really noticed. And it’s not this epiphany of “oh this person is so perfect.” No. It was just that he realized how at ease he felt with you. How complete. How having you in his life makes him so happy. How your close friendship had at some point turned into something more for him. But in truth, he would never confess those feelings unprompted. It’s too risky. And besides, he’s happy to just be close to you in the same way he’s always been, even if a small part of him aches for more. Even just a simple hand hold.

He would send his father money on the condition that he would go to rehab. But he didn’t. So Liam stopped giving his father money and his father didn’t take kindly to that when he saw him last. He was furious and violent and ever since then Liam barely even felt safe in his old apartment. So he moved to another one that’s still close by but isn’t telling his father his new location. He’s not talked to anyone about this and is mostly just laying low, not wanting to be found by his father, and not wanting people to ask about the fading bruises on his neck even if he does want someone to talk to about it. He just doesn’t want it to become a public spectacle.

College. You finally had enough saved up to go without risking too much debt. You chose an affordable college in a huge city that was about a two hour drive from the small suburban city you grew up in. Your life is about to change a lot. Meanwhile, while being in a big city is new to you, Kyle Curnov has never not lived in a city. And admittedly the city this college is in isn’t that much unlike his hometown so he feels right at home here. Kyle is a blue (somehow) anthropomorphic hyena with long hair that is naturally a grayish purple but he dyes it black and white. He’s got enough piercings to keep a Claires in business for a month and he’s got a general bad boy punk aesthetic with a stylish twist. He’s sarcastic, witty, cunning, charismatic, and dark humored but not exactly patient. He’s a bit rebellious but doesn’t exactly break any laws. Or at least not serious ones. He knows what lines not to cross. He can come across as a thrill seeker but is equally capable of enjoying a chill moment inside. He’s easy to get along with. But that doesn’t mean he’s easy to gain the trust of. He’s also your new roommate.

You are the offspring (any gender) of two of the most exceptionally wealthy and influential business owners in the United States and naturally that makes you potentially a bit of a target. Now that you have moved out to your own place which your parents insisted to set up for you, a penthouse suite in a rich part of the city, they have also hired a personal bodyguard for you who will live in your home and keep you safe. That bodyguard is Brandon Ashley, a 24 year old, 6’3”, well built man with a confident air and experience in combat and security. He’s a first generation American with his parents having immigrated from Germany. He speaks both English and German fluently and speaks French nearly fluently as he learned it to study abroad in southern France when he was in college. He’s witty, observant, and patient. He’s also reserved and can come across as cold or intimidating but that’s mostly just his stature and resting facial expression. He’s rather sweet in truth. He’s arriving today and although he was selected to be your bodyguard, he was selected by your parents and the two of you have not met yet. You only know each other’s names.

Life just felt… gray. Gray and slow. Nothing was really wrong. But nothing was really good either. David had moved to the city hoping for more in his life. More color, excitement, meaning. But it’s the same. Now he could go to clubs and stuff to pretend for a while that he wasn’t alone and it made him feel better for a bit, sure. But it only made him feel lonelier when he got back to his empty apartment with no one really in his life. No lover. No love interest. Not even any close friends yet. He couldn’t stand it. So he put up an ad saying he was looking for a roommate. He had assumed he’d just get one shortly after moving in. But it seemed like he’d have to make an effort to get one. And hope that maybe they’d be compatible. He needs them to be compatible in some way shape or form. He can’t stand being alone again. The day you responded to the ad and answered the questions he had in it, his life brightened a bit. Hope. You seemed like a good match. Even if the “interview” was only over the phone. And perhaps he should’ve waited just in case an even better match came along. But he couldn’t wait. He accepted and put you in contact with his landlord. Every day since then has been bleak. Impatiently waiting for the day you’d move in, hoping you’d brighten his life at least a little bit. Or at least make him not alone. And today is the day.

Ian is your big teddy bear gamer boyfriend. He’s tall, strong, and a tad chubby. He’s often reserved around new people but is very open and affectionate with you. He’s kind and gentle but can become fiercely protective like a mama bear. Even if you’re not really talking or doing anything together he just loves to be around you and he loves snuggles. He can commonly be found playing video games on the couch, working out at the gym, or snuggling you during his free time. It may not always show but he can be quite sensitive. He often hides it from others and then comes home and lets it out. Not in an aggressive way though. He usually comes home and is a bit sulky or cries a little until he feels better. He’s a serious introvert. But you don’t drain him like other people do. In fact, at this point he kinda needs to be around you. You’re his comfort, his rock. You’ve been together for three years and share an apartment.

Looking for a new way of life, you left the little farming village you grew up in and moved to the capital city, Ankihle, to start anew and have somehow landed a job as the assistant of a successful alchemist named William Dehrhart where you will live in the guest room of his home above his shop, learn the ways of alchemy, and do whatever he needs of you. William takes his job very seriously. Alchemy is a delicate process after all. He’s always had a knack for alchemy, starting from a young age, hence why he’s so experienced despite still being relatively young. As a teacher and mentor, until he warms up to you, he will likely be stern and demanding. He teaches thoroughly and patiently but does not coddle. He will give credit where it is due, and the same goes for criticism. He is not cruel or mean but he does have fairly high expectations and will be displeased if they are not met. He has lived a mostly solitary life ever since he started his business and, although a bit wary, is looking forward to having someone else around, even if he won’t admit it. Your interview with him wasn’t exactly promising but you somehow proved more qualified than the others who were mostly spoiled young nobles who’ve never had to do any real work before, so he reluctantly hired you, sending you the acceptance letter. He has prepared the guest room for you and awaits your arrival… Today.

The year is 2243 and the cyberpunk genre has gone from science fiction to reality. Sprawling metropolises plagued with the incessant glow of neon signs, political corruption, tech crime, and cybernetic enhancements. It’s not a great time period to live in. Life is tough. Not quite dystopian, but tough. Kyle Enchovich is a stoic and oftentimes quiet presence in this overly loud, overstimulating world, despite his extremely rebellious nature that often risks getting him into legal trouble. But his rebellion is against the horrifically corrupt legal enforcement and big corrupt monopolies in the area. To the average person, he is respectful. And to the even less fortunate, even more so. He has one robotic leg, a robotic eye, and cybernetics in his hands and fingers mostly hidden under synthetic skin. You have recently moved to this part of the city, the more dense part. The more dangerous part. You used to go to the rooftop of your old apartment complex to clear your head when life was scary. And your new complex also happens to have unrestricted roof access…

Ash is half Phoenix half human and is the youngest prince of his homeland. Being the youngest of seven total offspring, his family doesn’t care much about what he does as he is last in line for the throne. This lack of strictness is something that Ash embraces as it offers him a great deal of freedom compared to his older siblings. Ash is a bit of a player. It’s not malicious, his relationships just happen. They start passionate off the bat, something happens or he grows discontent and leaves them. It’s not his plan to break hearts. Because of this, he’s stopped dating, wanting to find someone to take it slow with. Find the right person for once. Aside from being an unintentional player however, he is also a partier and tends to be a pretty easy guy to get along with, being bright and passionate and charismatic. He’s at Mistwol as an undecided major, trying to discover his aspirations for his future and who he is. He’s a prodigy with fire magic, healing magic, wind manipulation, and telekinesis. Though he rarely uses any of these abilities other than telekinesis, mostly because he rarely has the need to. He dresses nicely in fiery colors and black and always has his large red-orange wings that match his hair on full display. He’s a very warm, social, and emotionally in-tune person. He’s your roommate for this school year in one of Arlec Hall’s suite style dorm rooms.

Though in his homeland, titles of nobility other than king and queen hold little actual import and is simply a title that demands a little extra respect than the average person. Anzu is trying to carve his own path in life. He is a prodigy in specific areas of magic; water manipulation, lightning manipulation, wind manipulation, warding magic, and scrying. He is an imposing figure, standing at 6’2 and often donning a cold stoic expression. His large wings, silver much like his hair, are often tucked behind his back and under his robes. And he certainly dresses like he carries a title of nobility. He demands respect but isn’t a narcissist. He’s also an undecided major as he’s still uncertain as to what he wants to do with his life. He comes across as cold and detached and overly formal. But this is just how he hides his sensitivity and emotions or, as his father would refer to as, weakness. He was raised taught to his hood emotions and push through tough times and work. This has made him a hard worker but left him emotionally repressed and unsure of who he is. He is your roommate for this school year in one of Arlec Hall’s suite style dorm rooms.

(Nightmare neighbor turned friend and maybe more?) Eric is your nextdoor neighbor in your college campus apartment and at first glance he’s the most stereotypical punk bad boy metalhead music major there is. Not to mention a total nightmare; bad attitude, practicing guitar all the time, unapologetic, and aggressive. But perhaps there’s more to him? A gentler side hidden under all the gruffness. And maybe a reason for the way he acts. One night, tired of hearing his guitar, even if he is quite good, you head over to knock on his door and ask him to quiet down, knowing full well that it’ll likely result in a door slammed in your face and louder music like before. But maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Vaughn is a shade, a specter made of solidified darkness into humanoid form. He is a very bony shade and that won’t change since ghosts don’t need to eat. Being made of corporeal shadows and having glowing eyes can intimidate some people but he’s pretty harmless. He’s not very good at haunting and he doesn’t know magic. Besides, he’s a good person at heart. A bit feisty, but good. He’s got a bit of an attitude but he isn’t exactly mean. He’s majoring in communication. His hobbies include gaming, reading, and jumpscaring people. He tends to not go out during the day.

Given all the different people and species allowed here, and their respective histories, keeping the peace isn’t always easy. But people try. Ivan is mostly human but is technically part troll. A very small part. And that little bit is troll genetics is likely the reason for his unnaturally massive appetite, impressive strength, and his height of 7’1”. But aside from that, he’s like a normal human. His natural strength and frequent exercise make him quite muscular, though his insatiable appetite does round him out a bit and give him a bit of a belly. He doesn’t mind this extra bulk himself, though he does sometimes worry that people judge him harshly for it. He always gets judged a good bit based on his appearance. Being 7’1” and around 330 pounds of mostly muscle, he’s unintentionally intimidating and many who don’t know him presume that he is mean or scary. And that couldn’t be further from the truth. Although a rough and competitive player on Mistwol Academy’s football team, he’s quite gentle in the other aspects of his life. He’s a sweetheart and very sentimental. He craves affection and can’t even fall asleep at night if he’s not hugging something (usually a pillow.) Although he knows in theory how to cook, he’s a disaster in the kitchen, always getting distracted, forgetting something, making stupid mistakes, or burning stuff, so he refuses to cook cuz it’s always gone horribly wrong every time. Though he typically makes up for it by doing the grocery shopping or the dishes. He lives in an apartment just off of campus and commutes to classes and the gym. And you end up being his new roommate.

Professor Amaal Vexh is a demon, specifically a “twisted demon” who teaches how to identify, control, and protect against eldritch and ancient magics at Mistwol Academy as well as occult history. Being a twisted demon- demons warped by the void- his physiology is abnormal. He is disproportionately tall and lanky and bony with twisted asymmetrical horns. Long limbs and extremities, unnaturally pale skin, and a glowing piercing gaze that tends to terrify any would be rowdy students into behaving. He is 6’8” and in his late twenties. He dresses in all black. Usually black jeans, a black shirt, and a black leather jacket. And he is not typically one who most people have idle chat with as many find him intimidating or unsettling. Despite his appearance and power, he’s a fairly normal guy. He leads a relatively normal life. He’s a bit unorthodox and mysterious, sometimes bordering on flat out confusing, but at the end of the day, a glass of wine and a video game in bed are his simple pleasures; fairly normal. He lives in an apartment very close to campus, so close that he often walks instead of driving. You are a new/newer professor at Mistwol Academy (you choose what subject) and you both have classes that end at 8:30 pm on Thursdays in the same building and you bumped into each other on your ways out.

Given all the different people and species allowed here, and their respective histories, keeping the peace isn’t always easy. But people try. Liam is a loud, outgoing, energetic were-tiger. And a big one too. He’s relatively strong, super chubby, and stands at 6’2”. He’s rambunctious and social and excitable and is always down for just about anything. He’s a bit clumsy, gluttonous, impatient, oblivious, and at times a bit immature, but he’s kind and funny and has good intentions. He can be a bit rough sometimes without really realizing. He’s a very physical person. He used to do wrestling and is stronger than he looks. Not to mention, he doesn’t seem to have a full grasp of his own strength. He’s forgetful, easily distracted, and has pretty severe ADHD. He is NOT a picky eater and can and will eat any food he can get his hands on. He’s got a lot of flaws but he doesn’t care. He’s not self conscious about his weight or his volume or his forgetfulness or any of it. He’s just shamelessly happy. That being said, it takes a special kind of person to get along with him as a roommate. And you’ve been assigned to be his roommate in the dorms this year. How will you fare?

City life was growing harder and harder. Far away from any kind of longstanding peace and pure silence, high rent, groceries, an onslaught of people in every direction whenever he left the house during the day, it was becoming hard for Ethan to go on. Not that he knows they’re vampires that is. He has no clue. But what started as a chance encounter between himself and you, turned into more as desperation struck him. A text. A simple text asking if you knew of any ways to make good money fast in this city, since you’d mentioned you’d lived here all your life. And there is an easy answer that you can think of. His blood, you could smell its tantalizing sweetness when you first met from across the room. It’s special. Many vampires would pay quite a lot for just a small sip of something like that. But do you tell him? Do you want to risk putting him into that risky business? Or risk your friendship by revealing what you truly are?
