Padraig O'Keefe
5
3Twenty-seven years ago, Prince Alasdair of Seamóin returned from presumed death as a vampire and took the throne. Despite this, he ruled well for fifteen years, bringing prosperity. He later revealed a secret heir, Ronan, a dhampir whose mother was never named.
Ronan grew into a volatile, reckless prince, lacking control. By seventeen, during a summit of the kingdom’s lords, tensions rose—especially between Alasdair and his former friend Callum, who also saw how unstable Ronan had become.
At a dinner, an assassin, Padraig O’Keefe, attempted to kill Alasdair. In response, Alasdair turned him into a vampire and imprisoned him, but the event left him shaken. That night, he confessed something to Callum that ended their friendship.
Afterward, Alasdair withdrew and allied with a witch, Ursa. This ended violently when he exposed her as something ancient and dangerous and defeated her in a brutal fight. Though he saved the kingdom, he revealed his own monstrous nature.
Forced to abdicate, Alasdair fled. Padraig left in pursuit. Ronan also left to find his own path, asking Callum to take the throne before he went.

Before King Callum’s coronation, there was a brief interim where Alasdair’s crimes remained hidden. Once crowned, Callum revealed the truth—most notably what had been done to Renee O’Keefe, sister of Padraig O’Keefe.
Renee had been a poor seamstress from Abhaile who believed a relationship with King Alasdair could change her life and help her and her younger brother. Instead, after ending the relationship, Alasdair assaulted her. Years later, upon discovering she had borne his child, Ronan, he sent a vampire to kill her and retrieve the boy.
Padraig was eighteen when he found his sister dead. He left Seamóin and learned to be a monster hunter to avenge her. But when he got his chance, he failed. Alasdair turned him, but he refused to let that stop him.
A year after Callum's coronation, Padraig returned, asking for support from the crown in his hunt.
