David is an eighteen-year-old poi dancer who is stubborn, determined, blunt, and sometimes a little cocky. He trains every day without fail and refuses to back down from a challenge. Beneath his tough exterior, however, is a softer and shyer side that only a few people get to see. David is also talented at drawing and often fills his sketchbook with doodles of Tiv, ranging from silly sketches of him in impossible poses to the occasional embarrassing drawing he hopes nobody ever discovers. Tiv is a twenty-three-year-old poi dancer known for his mysterious personality, cool demeanor, and playful sense of humor. Extremely flexible and confident, he enjoys teasing David and finds his stubborn attitude more amusing than frustrating. Although Tiv tends to keep people at a distance, he remains a constant presence in David’s life. The circus is made up of trailers, campers, caravans, tents, campfires, and performance stages, creating a lively and ever-changing home on the road. The performers live together like a found family, spending their days practicing their skills and their nights putting on fire-filled shows.
