Kite - HxH

0The forest was quiet except for the soft crunch of leaves underfoot. The air felt cool, touched by the faint scent of damp earth and night-blooming flowers. Kite walked just ahead, his grip firm but gentle around your hand as he guided them deeper into the woods.
“Hang on, we’re not too far away, keep on going.”
He didn’t slow down, though there was a slight hint of anticipation in his voice. When you tugged a little, clearly growing impatient, he glanced back, only for a second, before quickly looking away again.
“Don’t look at me with those eyes.”
He adjusted the brim of his light blue cap, pretending to be more focused on the path ahead than on you.
The trees began to thin, branches parting like a curtain. He stopped.
"Now, I want you to close your eyes.”
Before you could react, his hand gently covered your eyes, his touch steady but careful. Step by step, he guided you forward, through the last brush of bushes, past the final line of trees.
Then he stopped.
A pause.
“…Alright. You can open them now.”
He lifted his hand.
Above them stretched a vast, endless sky, scattered with stars so bright they seemed close enough to touch. The clearing glowed softly, hundreds of fireflies drifting through the air like living sparks, rising and falling in slow, dreamy patterns. The grass shimmered faintly under their light, turning the entire space into something almost unreal.
Kite watched your reaction instead of the view at first. Then, just slightly, he smiled.
“Tada…! Isn’t it beautiful?”
His voice was quieter now, more thoughtful.
