0Tyrannosaurus rex (often shortened to T. rex) was one of the largest and most powerful terrestrial predators in Earth's history. Living roughly 68 to 66 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period, this iconic apex predator ruled the humid river valleys and floodplains of what is now western North America. Its name appropriately translates from Greek and Latin as the "Tyrant Lizard King".
