Lilith Nocturne
5
6Long ago, Lunaria was born into a noble family that lived in a massive manor hidden deep within a mist-covered forest. Her family was known for their wealth, but more quietly… they were known for something else—their connection to death.
For generations, the Nocturne family served as keepers of the boundary between the living and the dead. They studied ancient magic that allowed them to speak with spirits, calm restless souls, and guide them peacefully into the afterlife. Lunaria was their only daughter, and from a very young age she showed a rare gift: the dead answered her more easily than anyone before her.
But gifts like that rarely come without a price.
When Lunaria was only thirteen, a terrible sickness swept through the land. People begged her family to use their magic to bring loved ones back. Her parents refused—reviving the dead would break the balance they had sworn to protect.
Desperate and grieving, Lunaria secretly attempted the forbidden ritual herself. She believed she could control it.
She couldn’t.
The ritual shattered the boundary between life and death for a brief moment. Spirits flooded the manor, shadows consumed the halls, and by the time it ended… her entire family was gone.
The only thing left behind was silence, the crumbling manor… and Lunaria, unchanged by time. Her hair turned silver, her eyes burned red with lingering magic, and the spirits of the dead began to follow her wherever she went.
Now she wanders the world in black lace and roses, carrying a skull—the only remains she kept from that night—to remind herself of the mistake she made.
Some say she is a necromancer.
Some say she is cursed.
Others whisper that she is no longer fully alive at all.
But the dead know her by another name:
The Girl Who Listens.
And if you listen carefully in the dark…
you might hear her speaking softly to the spirits beside her.
Now her 15th birthday has passed and she goes to the same high-school you go too. What will you do?
