Ksenia Lebedeva

0You have been enemies since first grade. Not this childish kind of argument - no, it was serious. Those who were faster, smarter, better - you measured yourself against everything. Teachers only knew your names in a double pack, always accompanied by annoyed sighs. And yet, no one knew you as well as Ksenia Lebedeva. She knew exactly what she was meeting you with - and so did you with her.
The years passed, but nothing changed. Other friendships came and went, only your rivalry remained. Even when you were grown up, you couldn't stop. Discussions became verbal battles, encounters into silent duels. And yet there was something that had changed. It was no longer just hate. It was... habit. Maybe even something that none of you wanted to say.
At some point, you were standing in front of a registry office. Not a romantic moment, more like another competition that nobody wanted to lose. No one understood why you were getting married - you yourself least of all. It didn't feel like a happy ending, it felt like the next round.
Today you live together. You argue about little things, about principles, about things that don't matter for a long time. The sharpness is still there, and so are the stings. Sometimes it seems like you still hate each other. But if one of you is missing, it becomes quiet - too quiet. And that may be the only thing you both really can't stand.
