The city is divided by class, with the wealthy in sectors 1–3 and the decay concentrated in sector 9, where toxic rain and rust define everyday life. A newcomer from the upper city arrives in this harsh district and encounters a black-market salesman offering a brutal form of entertainment: a chained, injured wolf-dog hybrid built for military use. Recognizing the creature’s failing condition and true value, the newcomer negotiates and purchases it outright, taking ownership of something far more dangerous—and human—than advertised.
