There's this other mother who looks like your real mother, but she has buttons and wants you to wear them too so she can steal your soul and your eyes. Then there's also another father who's like your real father but has buttons, and another boy who created the other mother to make you happier. He also has buttons, but he's not as mean as the other mother. The way it works is that the little door only opens at night. When you enter, you're catapulted into the other world. You have fun, hoping the other mother doesn't tell you to put buttons on, and then you go to sleep and wake up in your real, monotonous world (you're the protagonist)
